【TRIVIA】

Ninja refers to individuals and groups who worked in spy activities, destructive activities, assassinations, etc., and who were hired by daimyo and lords in Japan during the Asuka period (6th to 8th Century) - Edo period (17th to 19th Century). They were hired at each wartime, and ninja were good at surprise attacks such as fighting in the night and attacking in the morning.  Since the Meiji era, police and military has slowly taken over the role of ninja.

In the past, the name 'Ninjutsu tsukai' was used, but through the works of Murayama Tomoyoshi, Shirato Sanpei and Shiba Ryotaro, the names 'ninja', 'shinobi no mono' and 'shinobi' became more common. Since an article about ninja was published in the magazine "Newsweek" in 1964,  a ninja boom started in the West.  It became a motif of various movies such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The ninja costumes (shinobi shozoku) are transformed from work wear to suit for fighting. To lurk well in the darkness, the color dark brown was chosen rather than black.  In the daytime, ninja disguised themselves according to the circumstances.
