While many are found in Tokyo, Takama's famous soba restaurants occupy a special place in the hearts and minds of many people in Osaka, Japan, and beyond.

As the king of snacks in Osaka, Okonomiyaki is a close competitor to Takoyaki, but for those who were born and raised in Osaka, the most famous dish is kushikatsu, a traditional dish of rice noodles, rice balls and rice cakes. Japanese dish that comes from Osaka (or kUSHIKatsu), which is typically meat and vegetables fried on a skewer.

The kansai version consists of udon noodles with aburaage (fried tofu) that simmer in sweetened soy sauce, and if you're from Osaka, try hakozushi. Another classic in Osaka that is not to be missed is Okonomiyaki, sometimes called "Japanese pancake," which is made in Osakabe, where the dish is said to have originated. Of course, there is the hand - pressed nigirizushi that everyone knows and that you can find in sushi shops in Tokyo and elsewhere.

There are a handful of foods to eat on the street, and even normal restaurants in Osaka can offer them, sometimes at a stall. Although there are a number of dishes known in Japan, from sushi to ramen, there are only a few dishes that were specialties in Osaka and should be eaten there. It is best eaten with udo noodles, as Osaka is the birthplace of this simple, filling dish.

Okonomiyaki is mainly associated with the Japanese areas of Kansai and Hiroshima, but is widely available throughout the country. The most famous of these are Hiroshima and Okonomyaki in various styles, which can be found in many restaurants in Osaka, as well as in other parts of the city. Japanese specialities require a special Takoyaki pan and were created for Osaka by local street vendors. Although it was born in Tokyo, its popularity has spread throughout Japan in recent decades. So it's a popular food in Japan. Besides the Osaka area, many other cities and communities in the Bashi area of Tokyo and the Honshu region of Kyoto produce their own version of these foods, such as Kyoto, Nagoya, Kyoto and Kyoto - Shizuoka, all produced by people from the Danshui region, a region within Kanagawa Prefecture (Konsai region to which Osaka belongs).

Some restaurants in Osaka serve beef from nearby Kobe, while others have local beef such as Kobe beef and Kobe pork on the menu. Another dish in Osaka is kimchi, a special kind of beef from the city's Danshui region.

Dashimaki is a Japanese sweet omelette served whole or sliced, but the Osaka style is worth trying while you're there. Udon is one of the most common noodle dishes eaten in Japan, and it is worth eating in Osaka. Kitsune (udon) is another noodle dish that can be prepared in different ways, depending on whether you order it in Tokyo or Osaka or both.
